PAC Scholarship Application Form
Thank you for your interest in the Protected Areas Collaboration for Learning and Research (PAC) Scholarship Program.
1 - Before you start

Please familiarise yourself with course fees and gather any further information about our scholarship courses before applying for a scholarship. We have put together a rough guide on course fees and contact information here: https://pacollaboration.org/currentcourses
To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be based in Australia, Asia or the Pacific. No scholarships will be awarded outside of the region.
If you live outside of Australia, please be aware of visa requirements that may affect your participation in a course in Australia.
2 - Filling out your application
(i) Where possible applications are to be completed online using the form below.
(ii) If you have a poor internet connection or are otherwise unable to complete the online application, you may use the application form available for download here. Please submit your completed application to info@palrc.com by the closing date. You may use the application form below. This form must be completed and emailed as a Word document attachment do not convert it to a PDF.
3 - Indigenous Peoples
Recognising the vital role of indigenous peoples[1] in looking after lands and seas, PAC encourages Indigenous peoples from Australia, Asia or the Pacific region to submit a scholarship application.
4 - Closing date for applications
All applications must be received by PAC by 11.59PM, 1st of December 2021 Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
[1] PAC acknowledges and adheres to the definition of ‘Indigenous peoples’ in the International Labour Organsiation Convention on Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independent Countries and endorsed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Important note
Please be aware that the value of the scholarship award ranges from $1,500-$5,000 and may not cover all of the costs of your preferred course. Some course fees will vary depending on whether you are an Australian or International Student.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to check all costs required to complete the preferred course. This may include travel, accommodation and a visa. Please also take account of visa processing times.
Please note: Applicants for University courses may be eligible for recognition of prior learning, thereby reducing the length and cost of the course. Enquiries should be directed to the Course Contact.
Assessment Criteria
Applicants are assessed against the criteria below, taking into account individual opportunity. Please complete each question on the application form to address the criteria and include comments relevant to your circumstances and the opportunity provided by a scholarship, e.g. in relation to considerations such as your career stage, gender and opportunities to access education:
An intention to have ongoing engagement in and commitment to effective and inclusive stewardship of protected and conserved areas of natural and cultural heritage significance in the Asia-Pacific region.
Relevant experience with protected and/or conserved areas of natural and cultural heritage significance, including a history of contribution through work, study, community engagement, leadership, and/or influence with networks and organisations concerned with caring for these areas.
Your academic record as relevant to the course for which you have applied.
The expected usefulness of your chosen course in supporting involvement of Indigenous peoples and/or local communities with management of protected and conserved areas in the Asia-Pacific region.
A needs-based requirement, where without this scholarship, it may otherwise be difficult to enter the proposed course.
